Reading Your Meter Reads and Consumption

Overview:

If your unit is submetered, you can conveniently monitor your meter reads through your online account’s “Usage and Facts” section. The meter reads are graphically presented, but you also have the option to export them as a spreadsheet file for further analysis. 

Graph Navigation: 

• The graph displays meter readings over time; the X-axis represents the month the reading was taken and the Y-axis indicates the actual reading. 
• Hovering over or selecting each data point on the graph reveals the precise reading recorded for that month. These values are also included in your monthly statements and the exported spreadsheet. 
• You can adjust the displayed service periods using the options provided at the top of the graph, allowing you to focus on specific timeframes relevant to your tenancy. 

Estimated Readings: 

• A triangle symbol on the graph indicates an estimated reading, typically occurring when the actual meter reading is not received. Adjustments to estimations are automatically made during the billing cycles once readings are received. 

• Below is a chart that describes the process of the estimated reads and the adjustment process that is often called a "true up."

  

Monthly Meter Reads: 

• The “Monthly Meter Reads” graph shows the monthly records of your meter readings or the consumption for each service period, with each dot representing the end of a service

• The “Monthly Consumption” graph displays the difference between meter readings or the consumption for each service period, with each dot representing the of a service period

Example: A dot located at the point “5000, Sep ‘23” on a water “Monthly Consumption” graph indicates that the usage from August 2023 to September 2023 was 5000 gallons. The same principle can be used to read usage for other utilities.

Daily Meter Readings:

• If your meter provides daily readings, you’ll also find daily meter reading graphs in the “Usage and Facts” section of your account.
• Similar to the monthly graphs, the “Daily Meter Reads” graph presents a daily record of your meter readings, reflecting the continuous increases in usage over time.

• The “Daily Consumption” graph illustrates the difference between daily readings or the consumption for each service period, with each dot representing the end of a service period.

Example: A dot located at the point (100, 2/23) on a water meter graph indicates that the usage from February 22nd to February 23rd was 100 gallons. The same principle can be used to read usage for other utilities.
