How am I billed?

Conservice will use one of two types of billing methods to calculate your costs: Usage-Based or Allocation-Based. While there are subcategories for each kind of billing method, these are the two general categories.

Lease agreements typically specify your billing methods in a utility billing section or addendum. However, lease wording can be difficult to understand, so the best way to check your billing method is by reading the bill you receive from Conservice.

Usage-Based vs Allocation-Based Billing

Every billing method is unique to the location you live in.

If your billing method is Usage-Based:

There is a meter that measures your home's usage of water, sewer, electricity, or gas. Checking your bill is an easy way to verify if there is a meter in your home.

On the first page of the bill it will show your utility charges, and, if your home is metered, it will show the meter reads above the charges. For specific questions related to usage-based billing methods, please check out this article: Usage Based Billing

If your billing method is Allocation-Based:

There is no meter on your unit to measure your monthly consumption. Instead, we will bill you for a portion of the community’s total charges based on specific information about your household (number of people in the household, size of the home, number of bedrooms, a combination of those options, or sometimes a flat rate charge).
