Single Family: Estimated Charges & Understanding Multiple Service Periods

Why am I receiving an email about estimated charges?

Some months, we may not receive a new utility bill from one or more of your local utility providers in time to include the charges on your monthly utility statement. For example, your utility statement may be finalized and sent out on the 15th of the month. However, we may not have received and processed the provider’s water and sewer bill until the 17th of the month.

In these cases, you will receive charges for multiple service periods on a future utility statement. Most often, this occurs during your next utility statement, but occasionally it will occur later.

To help you budget more efficiently, we have started sending out estimated charges for the missing utilities. These are calculated based on a 3-month average of the prior year’s charges for the same time of year. Please note that these are only estimates and may be higher or lower than the actual utility charges for that service period.

Can I get these estimated charges added to my bill and pay them to my property management?

This is not an option at this time. If this option becomes available in the future, an announcement will be added to your estimation emails. For now, it is best to budget for multiple service periods on your next utility statement.

Why are there multiple charges for the same utility on my bill?

Conservice uses the bills from local utility providers to consolidate and calculate the charges owed for your home. We will send statements to residents on approximately the same date each month to provide consistency and allow residents to plan for the charges.

Additionally, Conservice manages payments to the providers and tracks invoices. While we strive to get as many invoices electronically as possible, we occasionally receive invoices in the mail, which can cause delays.

Furthermore, billing process issues within Conservice or billing and/or metering issues with the utility provider can cause delays when Conservice generates charges and statements for your home.

Why am I missing a utility charge on my bill?

To adjust for these kinds of delays in billing, we will not bill for the affected utility service until the bills from the provider have been added to our billing process.

On your bill, it will appear as if we did not bill you for one or more utility services on a bill. For example, if we usually bill you for water, sewer, and trash, for the affected month, you could be charged only for water and sewer and not trash services.

Why are there multiple utility charges on my bill?

When you see more than one of the same charge on your bill, but for different service periods, that likely means that there was some sort of delay that prevented us from including the charge for that service period on a previous bill, as described above.
